The future of fire and EMS services in Monterey faces serious challenges. With an aging roster of firefighters and younger members moving away for work, maintaining adequate emergency response capabilities is becoming increasingly difficult.

For many years, the Monterey Fire Department has provided a superior level of service to our town and our mutual aid partners. Our dedicated volunteers have been responsible for saving many lives, and neighboring towns count on us as their first call for help in emergencies. Preserving this standard of excellence is critical, but it requires real solutions and community support.

The Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chief have been working diligently with members of the Select Board and Finance Committee to find a sustainable path forward. A recent presentation outlines the current situation and potential solutions. You can view it here: https://www.montereyma.gov/.../rescuing_emergency...

Next Meeting: April 9th, 7:00pm – Your input and knowledge matters! Join the conversation and help shape the future of emergency services in our town.
