TRAINING
Here at the Monterey Fire Company, we meet weekly to train and practice skills vital to effective and efficient emergency response. We have built up our training facilities and become a dedicated group of senior and junior firefighters who work together to sharpen our skills, to better serve our community.
MFD trains in many skills including Fire Suppression, Ventilation, Ice/Water Rescue, Vehicle Extrication, and RIT.
All of our members are trained to the Firefighter I and II standard as well as the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) level. Many members hold various other certifications including Emergency Medical Technician, Rope Rescue Operations, and Fire Instructor/Officer.

May 24, 2017 – Car Extrication Drill at Hume New England
Special thanks to Hume New England for letting us use their facilities for training. This drill tested our teamwork and communication skills in a more extreme staged extrication scenario. The first crew worked to stabilize the vehicle and extricate Buster, our dummy, as quickly and as safely as possible. The second crew practiced using the extrication tools by removing the doors and then the roof of the vehicle.
May 12, 2016 – Car Extrication Holmatro Equipment Demo
We were joined by New Marlborough and Otis Fire Departments for this tool demonstration by Holmatro. We carry Holmatro equipment on Rescue 9 for vehicle extrication and rescue. They brought us their newest tools to try out and taught us updated extrication techniques. You can learn more about their tools on their website.
